Advanced Functional Medicine Testing

What is The GI-MAP?

The GI-MAP is the gold standard stool test which screens for various gastrointestinal, digestive and immune markers together with pathogenic bacteria, commensal (“normal” or beneficial) bacteria, opportunistic pathogens, fungi, viruses, and parasites.

The GI Map test does exactly what it sounds like— it maps out exactly what’s going on inside your gut! This stool test by Diagnostic Solutions Lab uses a sample of your stool to analyze the state of your gastrointestinal tract by detecting your harmful versus healthy bacteria balance and identifying any harmful infections, pathogens, parasites, active viruses, and more. The GI Map is a full-proof way to get an accurate idea of what’s going on inside your gut so that you are not just guessing at what is going on, but rather having a definitive answer.

Anyone can benefit from a GI Map assessment, however for those with active symptoms it is most critical. It is highly recommend doing a stool test if any of the following symptoms are present:

  • Gastrointestinal distress
  • Bloating or gas
  • Bloating or gas
  • Acid reflux
  • IBS
  • Diarrhea and/or constipation
  • Skin rashes or eczema
  • Autoimmunity
  • Fatigue
  • Brain fog
  • ADHD or ADD
  • Nausea
  • Weight issues
  • Depression or anxiety

Dutch Test

The majority of woman we see in clinic are exhausted, adrenalized, and burned-out, spending their time juggling family duties, work, and other life challenges that are thrown their way. They are often not aware that they are suffering from a hormonal imbalance, presenting with symptoms such as abnormal menstruation (heavy/painful periods), PMS, headaches, decreased sex drive, bloating, mood swings, fatigue, anxiety & depression, breast tenderness, endometriosis, fibroids, and hormonal weight gain. With these women I almost always recommend they complete the DUTCH Test. Why? Because it’s the gold standard when it comes to hormone testing. The DUTCH test tests reproductive and adrenal hormones as well as melatonin and oxidative stress.

What Is The Dutch Hormone Test?

The DUTCH test stands for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones and involves collection of a small amount of urine on filtered paper four times a day. The DUTCH TEST measures hormone metabolites from the dried urine samples. The hormones measured in the test include:
• Cortisol
• Cortisone
• Estradiol
• Estrone
• Estriol
• Progesterone
• Testosterone
• DHEA
• Melatonin
This test also measures cortisol and cortisone rhythms and levels, and estrogen metabolism pathways.

OAT Test

Organic Acid Testing (OAT) can aid advanced practitioners in detecting imbalances, toxicity, and inflammation in patients and indicate the functional need for specific nutrients, diet modification, antioxidant protection, and detoxification.

On a cellular level, our bodies are a constant stream of chemical reactions. These chemical reactions are the building blocks of our whole physiologic system, and our health is dependent on their optimal function.

The OAT test captures byproducts of these chemical reactions called Organic Acids that we excrete in our urine. By capturing the relative amounts of these organic acids, we are able to gather information on how these chemical reactions in our bodies are functioning. If a chemical reaction is going too slowly, for example, there can be a buildup of specific organic acids in the urine.

Organic Acid Test is recommended for individuals with the following disorders:
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • ADHD/ADD
  • Autism
  • Inflammatory Disorders
  • GI Dysfunction
  • Yeast Overgrowth
  • Mold Colonization
  • Mitochondrial Dysfunction
  • Neurotransmitter Imbalance
  • Detoxification Disorders
  • Kidney Stones/Oxalate Related Conditions

Food sensitivity test

It is estimated that up to 12 million Americans have food allergies or food sensitivities. A food sensitivity is an inflammatory response of the immune system to a food trigger or allergen.

Food allergies and sensitivities are recognized to be correlated with many plaguing health conditions, such as weight gain, irritable bowl syndrome, constipation, eczema, fatigue, bloating, headaches, migraines, stomach pains, and many others. With proper identification and elimination of offending foods, many experience relief from their symptoms. Often times healing the gut and body, allowing re-introduction of these foods with the proper guidance and support. Our IgG, IgG4, IgA, and IgE antibody assessment panels can serve as useful tools in the identification of trigger foods in individuals.

Micronutrient
Most of us have had blood tests, and your doctor may have told you that you are deficient in iron or B vitamins. This is excellent information to know, as a deficiency of micronutrients can cause a host of health problems. Unfortunately, standard blood tests only target a few micronutrients and so can leave us with a very incomplete picture of our micronutrient levels. SpectraCell Micronutrient Testing fills in the gaps left by the standard blood tests ordered by your doctor and can give you some very important information that will lead to diet and supplement changes which can vastly improve your energy levels, strengthen your immune system, alleviate symptoms of arthritis, reduce your risk of developing Alzheimers, and even improve your memory, focus and cognition.

SpectraCell Micronutrient Testing measures 31 vitamins, minerals, amino/fatty acids, antioxidants, and metabolites. The results from this testing will tell you if you’re deficient in any of these micronutrients so you can take the needed steps to avoid the health issues that can result.
